At
last Sagada, the words come out from my mouth; this is the result of numerous
turns and swerves all the way to the highlands. The faintness made me realized that I’m not an
enthusiast traveller. This sounds odd but fairly true, maybe because I can’t
snatch a sleep during the trip. And I feel like envious to those people who effortlessly
snuffling despite the rough road. Darn!
Anyway
my expectation is not that high – I did not expect of bullet trains, taxis, hybrid
and electric buses. I absolutely know the distinctness of the town and that we are
looking for. To live a place which very far from what we are living with. The fresh
air rounds all the way to our poor bodies that have been victims of pollution in metropolis. Its feeling great isn’t
it?
As we alight the bus, we went straight to George Guesthouse to rest our retiring bodies. Thanking Ms. Dora as she did not collect for two days reservation despite guesthouses and transients were fully booked that time. George Guesthouse seated few meters down from the center of the town, very close to Bus Station and Tourist Centers.

In Front of Guest House |
At
first it’s pretty hard for us to find the guesthouse as we trekked all the way
down passing by the famous Yoghurt House and Salt and Pepper Diner. We also passed
by Sagada Tourist Center and SAGGAS. Until we saw a building painted with
colorful-like-stone-walls.
This
4-storey building standing just in front of the road side, rooms facing in
front has own veranda; perfect for the panoramic view of the town. The place
looks like clean and with a living room on the ground and the second floor where we stayed. We were welcome by the staff that is very accommodating and with smiles on their faces.
Living and Dining Room |
We
booked room for two which is spacious, good for four pax already. I also
noticed that each room is named after the colors like the crayons. It has WiFi all
over the building, although not that strong but enough to post Facebook status. I never expect that we will only be paying P600/night as I forgot to
inquire prior to room rates. Badboy >< baboy. I was actually expecting for like P900 - P1200 as it is peak season.
The
room has queen-sized bed, small TV with cable and clean restroom. It has no
veranda, no air condition nor electric fan but I don’t think we need all those.
The place itself is cooler than having an AC. I guess those with AirConditions
are available for big and family rooms.
The
place is quiet with peaceful neighborhood. I heard birds chirping and
different sounds coming from the forest in exception of motorbikes and jeeps
as the main transportation in the town. That time most of the tourist are
whites (foreigners) which travel in packs and fairly young; maybe because
Filipinos chose to stay in their family during holiday season.
GEORGE GUESTHOUSE: THE ANNEX
This
annex is farther from the town proper but pretty much closer to the famous
Sumaging Cave. Its fifteen to twenty minutes away from the cave so it’s pretty
much save money on renting vehicles. Normally if the main building is already
full, they pitch out guest to annex. Though like what I said a lil farther from the town proper ( five-minute leisure walk the Main Building) but you can really feel the clarity of the place.
