Since
we’re not able to make it to Sagada, we had no choice but to look for a place
to stay. Or else we’ll be staying outside covering our poor bodies from the freezing
environment. The phone rang here and there if not fully booked, overpriced.
WHERE TO STAY
‘til
we knew that there’s like a dormitory type inns that is perfect for overnight
stay and backpackers. We quickly called them and luckily they have more slots open for dormitory-type, but standard and family room are already full, so I guess so we’re good with it. Upstairs Bed and Bath is already
good for us, although it’s cozy yet very affordable.
This place is located at the lower session road. The landmark is Barrio Fiesta just below SM City Baguio. It has human size statues scattered all over the steps, so just look down and you can see the signage of Upstairs. It is very near and accessible to malls, terminals, and other commercial establishments. Check in time is 2:00PM and check out 11:00AM. Since we were the first batch to get in they allowed us to check in early. We paid P299/head for dormitory-type room.
At first I was like awkward because it has plenty of double-deck beds piling from end
to end so people can rightly see you sleeping. Though it is clean but still I’m
not at ease sleeping with anonymous people beside you. Hindi naman sa maarte,
hindi lang siguro sanay. I took the farthermost side near the window so I assure no one sleeps both sides.
The
staffs are nice and friendly, greet us everytime we come in and out. We waged a
sleep for a while since we came from a not-so-good morning. I realized that my
body was so exhausted coming from a beer session last night. So my apprehensions
roofed with a good sleep. While preparing ourselves for dinner around 7PM I
noticed that there were students or maybe other backpackers busy chatting that is overheard all over the wide room. And to keep our things safe, we left them at
the reception area.
WHERE TO DINE
We
walked along the Session Road looking for a good restaurant for dinner. And we
heard that Vizco’s Restaurant and Cake Shop offers the best pasta in town.
Thanks to my android phone we quickly found where it is seated along the boulevard.
We
ordered Vizco’s Beef Stroganoff for P198.00 and and Vizco’s Chicken Vinaigrette
for P152. We also add our all-time favorite Blue Berry Cake for P90.00. Indeed
they have the best pasta flavour in town and should consider when seeking for a
dinner date. Blue Berry tasted differently with a mix of can’t-describe-the-taste
but really good.
We
stayed there for like an hour and reminiscing about what happened the
morning that day. Afterwards we decided to just go back to Upstairs to take
rest and we promised to be the early birds the next day.
We
passed by these human size statuettes to take some pictures and played with them like the
statue itself before going back to room. Almost all commercial establishments were already closed that time.
